Why a Christian woman from the Middle East Voted Trump
It’s not as easy as it sounds
Coming home from a very tiring day after Donald J Trump Rally, I was compelled to ask myself again, why do I want to vote for Mr. Trump?
As an Assyrian American woman, born in the Middle East raised in America, I share two beautiful cultures without conflict, having separate concerns for each.
On my American side, to be honest I was not always a Trump supporter. Truth be told, I voted for Senator Ted Cruz during the Primaries and wanted nothing to do with Trump. When my only choice as a republican became obvious, I wanted to turn and run. However as many have experienced, when I started to listen to what Mr. Trump was saying I was impressed. He won me away from what I was condition to think a presidential candidate should be, a “polished, perfect politician”.
What impressed me first was his genuine love of country and his deep desire to showcase the greatness of America. It’s been a while since I’ve seen someone with this much enthusiasm laying out his plans of success in “simple stupid” terms. For one of the smartest most resilient men in our country, there are no complicated formulas, no overindulging rhetoric and no confusion, which resonates with us the people.
Another reason, I like that he is not a politician but a businessman. Businessmen create jobs; politicians make promises to create jobs. Why would I want to vote for someone that might or might not when I can vote for the sure thing, a tried and tested tycoon that has built a successful empire…Simple Stupid.
On the Middle Eastern side, he was the first candidate to express outrage against the Christian Genocide perpetrated by ISIS. His compassion was exhibited where he vowed to not only defeat ISIS but help the displaced Christians. He is also not afraid to call the enemy by name or pronounce the crime as “terrorism”, words that have practically become obsolete from the current administration.
Being a Christian I carry no ill will towards any Muslim or any religion for that matter. But when the Christians are specifically being targeted for their faith, the problem must be addressed without being politically correct. Mr. Trump is not interested in using language to appease the establishment to gain recognition. As he has specifically said, “Christians are being beheaded, burned alive, and killed just for their faith”. No other candidate before him dared to utter these words.
Being a blunt and practical woman, I like that he is a straight shooter. I like to be told the truth even when it hurts. Mr. Trump has from the beginning told the public what he thinks. He is believable because we who support him see ourselves in him. Simple proud Americans, working hard but not taking our great liberties for granted. When I started to understand his heart and his message, I truly had an “AHA” moment…simple stupid.
Mr. Trump doesn’t profess to have all the solutions, he encourages “we the people” to get involved to help. He prefers to preside WITH our country and not OVER our country, restoring the people to lead & govern themselves, a concept lost within our republic.
Is Mr. Trump prefect? No of course not, if he was I wouldn’t vote for him, because I am not perfect. We all make mistakes, the hope is that we learn and move forward.
Mr. Trump has lived out his life before the camera as an open book, there is probably very little the public doesn’t already know about him. While trying to find personal and financial success he has experienced life to the fullest, leading him to his current positions as a proud family man and as one of the wealthiest men in the country. This is who we need in the White house, an uncompromising, sharp businessman, and a friend who is one of us. We don’t need a perfect, polished politician for President; we need a man who loves his country enough see beyond his wealth, humble himself and serve.
